    Direct Line pull the same trick each year. Basically it is always cheaper to apply for a new policy with them online than to accept a renewal.

    This year however I went with Privilege and got it even cheaper plus I get £70 quid back from Quidco. Net price is £158 fully comp

    The funny thing is I'm pretty sure they are the same company. The forms and web site are virtually the same apart from the logos.

    It's all rubbish. They just want to stiff you on your (automatic) renewal.

    Saying that I just renewed my insurance, but only because I couldn't beat the renewal quote from Admiral.
