I am not talking about being fair I am talking about how I think my children should be brought up in order to cope and excel in todays society. You are pitching the argument into a different territory Tay. As you do not yet have children I would not expect you to understand my point. You could give it a go as I am sure one day you will be faced with balancing generosity with your children with what is best for them.Let us not forget EU open doors immigration benefits IT contractors more than anyoneComment

I will get back to you in Feb then when mini tay is due... I dont think my opinion will have changed much... as I am happy to give my money to my kids, and dont think you have to spoil them to do it.
In fact I bet if you die tomorrow and leave him your money, your son will still be the same financially responsible chap he is now, you have laid the groundwork already, and it has nothing to do with windfalls at later age and everything to do with teaching responsibility as a child.Comment

Giving material goods and money to children is a sign of a parent that gives precious little else, which is in turn tantamount to child abuse.Older and ...well, just older!!Comment

My point is that giving money to people for doing nothing is not good for them, whether it is your children or anyone else.Originally posted by ratewhore View PostI'm not sure what your point is after you said this:Let us not forget EU open doors immigration benefits IT contractors more than anyoneComment

Hmm, I disagree. However, I can't be arsed debating so I'm going to go and insult Wilmslow instead...Older and ...well, just older!!Comment

If you had a windfall of money would you be as motivated to work?
Would you be as motivated to work as hard as you would before the windfall? or would you work on your terms more than on your employers terms?Let us not forget EU open doors immigration benefits IT contractors more than anyoneComment

Does getting a windfall often not result in one being able to work in a field/job that one os genuinely interested in rather than one that pays the bills. Personally if I was able to work in a job I was interested in rather than the current scenario then I would work far harder.Originally posted by DodgyAgent View PostIf you had a windfall of money would you be as motivated to work?
