    I am socially inept...

    ..so I need help.

Going to a wedding on Friday. I don't know either the bride or the groom.

In fact I am only going becuase my best friends husband used to work with the sister of the bride. Fark knows why I was invited - but I never say no to a party.

So dilemma. Should I take/not take a present. Whats the social rules in these situations.

Don't worry the social rules on chatting the brides maids up and getting drunk off my arse are already squared away.

If you're invited around for dinner do you take a bottle?

Of course you buy a present.

Pressie, but don't go overboard, its not like they know you.

Unless of course you've been invited because the bride's sister knows that you are contractor so they are intently interested in finding out how much money you can lavish on them

My mates will have proclaimed I am a tight arse.

When asked I was told that there will be "single people" there. My reply was great! But then I realised that single people are also and funerals and the likelihood is that one of them is going to be on a monster rebound.

                    Silver picture frame.

That's my standard "I don't really know you" wedding present.

They're not too expensive, but they're silver so they can't complain.
