I read something once about a dentist who visited remote tribes around the world, and was stunned at how good their teeth were, obviously they had never seen a dentist previously and had no toothpaste

In 1991 a pen and paper RPG came out called "Tales of the Floating Vagabond".

There was a special talent (from a list of many) that you could take, that allowed a character to "readdress" the laws of physics, provided they had a plausible reason to back it up.

Eg, The characters were on foot and being chased by a fleet of Apache Gunships. One character successfully activated his talent and said "Metal is heavier than air".
