This is good news, but why wait until they are out of work for 2 years before they have to do something?

Can't think of anything worse
Than being made to feel useless and a scrounger if you are battling with mild mental illness.
The sheer quantity of new claimants over the last 15 years suggest there is something going wrong. The move of numbers from unemployed to sick is very suspicious.
It may well work, assuming they actually go through with it.Comment

I wonder how many are mentally ill due to psychosis through cannabis usage. That was yet another great failure of the New Lie in their effective legalisation of this dangerous drug. Increases in claimant numbers was one reason why they reclassified a couple of months ago.Comment

Many governments play this game, not just UK. Sick claimants don't count as unemployed, it's a gimme for the gov. Government survey suggested I believe 70% of UK sickness benefit claimants are dodgy. I think the Netherlands has like 5 million on sick!Originally posted by vetran View PostThe sheer quantity of new claimants over the last 15 years suggest there is something going wrong. Someone elsewhere pointed out that all these people moving from sickness to unemployment will be ‘useful’ to mask the underlying increase in unemployment that is due to occur over the same time. How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

So anyone on the sick is either a scrounger or a druggie. You show all the intellect of a Daily Mail reader.Originally posted by Cyberman View PostI wonder how many are mentally ill due to psychosis through cannabis usage.
Sheesh. I hope it never happens to you.Comment

I think the trouble is that for every x people who are on it legitimately, everyone always knows someone who is on it when they shouldn't be - for some vague leg or back problem. It's the wasters who stick in your mind and who spoil it for everybody else.Originally posted by Platypus View PostSo anyone on the sick is either a scrounger or a druggie. So let's just allow everybody to scrounge. After all, MPs have their mouths in the trough, so why not everybody else. Didn't people vote for it when they elected New Lie ?

There is another category, and in my opinion this category is the real problem.Originally posted by Platypus View PostSo anyone on the sick is either a scrounger or a druggie. You show all the intellect of a Daily Mail reader.

They are on the dole for legitimate reasons, they are seriously trying and wanting a proper job, but while they are waiting they are seriously skint so they do everything they can to maximise their income, so they play the system. For every true scrounger there are probably 20 of these guys, they milk the system while they are in it, but they dont particularly want to be in it.
The system need to be tightened up, simplfied and streamlined.
