I was a dole-ite for nine years, I have been there mate. Of all the other guys I only ever knew one true scrounger.
If you take into account that you probably only really get to know a few of the people you meet , I would estimate one in twenty. The other nineteen, me included, were desperate to get out of the sh 1 te.

On the other hand, whilst dans le sh 1 te, I, and they, did everything to maximise our income.

In the early 90s recession, when I was just starting out and had no experience, I was made redundant twice. I didn't enjoy the experience of claiming benefits even though both spells only lasted a few weeks.
I hope the coming recession causes some pain for the brats like Cyberman who have only enjoyed the good times (based on an artificial credit boom). It would do them a power of good to experience the other side of the coin.
      Hard Brexit now!

Any recent government - Major's lot weren't exactly backwards in coming forwards at the trough. Remember all this only came to light recently, but it's been going on for decades - Neil Hamilton anyone?

And as for that ridiculous claim that benefit recipients are Labour's core support - it's just utter tosh. If that were true they should've had landslide victories under Thatcher when millions were claiming dole.

Serious. I too was on the dole for years, but I was a scrounger. Paid it back in spades since started working properly.
I could have worked and sometimes did (briefly) - kitchens, cleaner, factory temp, that kind of thing.
