Why should people not be totally responsible for the costs of bringing up their own kids ? Is it right that I can have children and expect others(ie the taxpayer) to pick up the tab ?
raising kids isn't about money it's about love. what are you some kind of robot? oh yeah - you are.

I think we're being given some of our own 'tour' medicine by the good folk from www.expressreaders.co.uk here.

Sorry - my mistake, that was Chris 79 who actually claimed it would "pay for itself", not save, strictly.

Depends what you mean by costs - we all pay for education, even if we don't have kids. We all pay for pavements, even if we don't walk on 'em. We are all paying for the Iraq war and MPs expenses. Like ain't fair, live with it.

                  Ok then I will.

I've come to the conclusion you must either live out in the sticks and never come into contact with real people, or you are agroaphobic and avoid it. The youth of today have no respect for teachers, parents, police, laws. The one place they can gain this is in school, getting an education, and being taught respect. Using the words "physically assaulting children" seems quite drastic, but I'm all for teachers being given a bit of power to give the naughty kids a punishment (and no, I'm not talking about stripping them naked and beating them black and blue), it worked for decades before they stopped it in the 80s, and look at the state of things 25 years later...

I actually attended school during the 80s myself and there were kids in mine who were almost feral, running riot, with the teachers powerless to control or stop them. The disruption this brings to everyone and everything around it is immense. Sadly some of the worst ones are now serving life sentences for murder (no joke), these were people who were in MY class at school. There needs to be some form of control in society, tell me a better way if you think 'pysically assaulting children' is not the answer here (bad choice of words you have picked to describe the process I think).

I agree, but you need money to raise kids and it should be your own and not the taxpayers' money !! :moon
