Technically it's because Ireland is part of the 'British Isles' a non-political, geographical grouping of two biggish islands + lots of smaller ones off the Western seaboard of Europe.

N Ireland isn't part of the British isles. It's part of the United Kingdon of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Most people think they are the same thing, they are not. The UK is larger than Britain.

Yes there are many occurrences on the internet of that mistake. Especially American sites. The term UK is needed to add northern Ireland to Britain.

That is a very recent occurance and there are still very few who do. Show me the pictures of the ones you know.

As ever your (I am using you to represent the Scots here) only response is to shout bigot. How ironic.

Just so I understand this:
1. It is OK for a Scot not to support England, but the English must support a Scot because he is British?
2. It is not OK for an Englishman to wear his own flag but it is OK for a Scot to do so.
3. It is OK for Scot to accuse an Englishman of racialism even though he is defending a racialist statement from a Scot.

It wasn't that long ago that the Scots were saying they would not be supporting England in the last football and rugby world cups yet the same Scots are now telling the English thye should be getting behind Murray, one of the self same Scots who stated they would support anybody but England (in fact whoever England were playing).
