some friends of mine went a few years back and told one of the "nice but dim" members of the group that if he turned up suitably attired they'd be allowed to have a practise on the courts before play. Poor lad was forced to queue dressed in whites with his raquet whilst everyone stared/sniggered etc.

Wimbledon was quite interesting in the 80s to mid 90s. Characters like Jeremy Bates, driving himself to each match. Edberg, Agassi, Cash, Ivanisovic, Graf,Sabatini etc. Power was less important, we had rallies.

Just a procession of media trained robots these days, until Federer picks up the Trophy.
