He has resigned his seat to trigger a local by-election, which he will contest on a one subject platform. The new 42 day rule.
Its a risk (and part of me wants him to come a cropper) but if he wins he shows public opinion on the 42 day rule and I am sure he will also have a few points on Golden Clowns premiership and the whole state of governance under NL.
I am not qualified to give the above advice!

The original point and click interface by
    Smith and Wesson.

      Spin, smoke and mirrors.
NL have shown they hold public opinion in very low regard.
They ignored the single biggest demonstration this country has ever seen on the Iraq war. They ignored the biggest ever petition put forward on road charging and other very large campaigns which show much more public support (F4J for instance) than the scant (if any) support being publicly broadcast for the 42 day detention of terrorists.

        I think it's quite clever.

If they keep doing it (every 6 months or so) it could keep Golden on the back foot.

He's doing quite a good job of that himself!

Beeb is saying that he's spoken to Clegg so that the lib dems won't field a candidate.

I'm assuming he's in a pretty safe seat anyhow?

The only opposition in Haltemprice are the Liberals. Labour always come a poor third.

The only danger is if all Liberal voters switch to Labour which is unlikely.

And I think today he's just coined the phrase "Database State". Nice.

By reports I meant the BBC. I would have thought that the media left leaning luvvies at the beeb would have been spitting thier yogurt over this one, but they constantly stated that the public wanted this. I still have not found anybody who thinks it is a good idea. Is there anybody on here who thinks it is a good idea? Wilmslow is excluded for the obvious reasons!
Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

                  I preferred version 1!

Churchy (or was it baggy) was arguing for it earlier.

Me too. For once, I doubt if rent boys or gambling debts etc are involved, and it's no more than what we all (?) assume - a cat playing with a mouse by letting it go and catching it again (the mouse being GB).

P.S. I wonder if Guy Fawkes's blog has any comments, on this resignation and the 42 day issue generally.
