    Kiss of death

Two weeks after being offered an extension into 2009, I just got asked if I'd be interested in going permie.

I think that may have made my mind up about whether to take the renewal or not...

Oh dear... I was offered a permanent position whilst 3 months into a 6 month contract, I politely refused and was given 2 weeks notice the same day.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

Ahem, it was an offer I politely declined. My days of setting performance objectives and the older boys weeing on my shoes are behind me.

I was offered a permie position last February. I'm still planning to be here on contract next February.

I was offered a permie position last december, after completing what was supposed to be a two-week contract. I also politely declined, and am still on the same contract.

(Only being renewed in monthly increments though, which is a bit of a pain. I should be charging higher rates for the extra insecurity, but don't want to rock the boat with the market as it is.)

You may think your safe for now, but I bet you hesitate for a quick look in the window when passing a clip on tie shop........

Why not say "I will think about it"? I am sure we can all provide some nonsense questions to ask them.

Since when does being a contractor mean being honest?
