Eurovision has never been restricted to Europe. It's defined as the European Broadcasting Area. Takes in some of the North African countries as well as the Middle East.Originally posted by wobbegong View PostIsraeli FFS! Yes, that really was the ultimate pi$$ take, a man pretending to be a woman, from a country that's not even part of Europe!

It's the untilmate exercise in stupidity as, apart from the Eurovision Song Farce and maybe the occasional sporting event (usually football) nothing is ever broadcast from mainland europe to the rest of the European Broadcasting Area i.e. The UK.Originally posted by NotAllThere View PostEurovision has never been restricted to Europe. Can you imagine anyone from the North African countries or the Middle East be remotely interested in whatever a Norwegian broadcaster is saying?
It's Deja-vu all over again!

I only ever watch it for Terry Wogan's sublime commentary.
"Oh look, Serbia voting 12 points for Crotia, now what a suprise"..
How he gets away with it, I'll never know...Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

under my regime, gaudy prole tat like Eurovision will be banned and replaced with something more highbrow, e.g. "How do you solve a problem like Godot", "Noel Edmonds' Proust Party" etc.Originally posted by BolshieBastardYou're fulfilling a business role not partaking in a rock and roll concert.Comment

I propose romansh. Even among them they have at least a dozen variations. Eventually each person will have his own language.Originally posted by Spacecadet View PostThe only language that could be the official language now is English. Its the most wide spread
Of course France and Germany will never accept that so we're unlikely to see Europe getting an official language
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RomanshI've seen much of the rest of the world. It is brutal and cruel and dark, Rome is the light.Comment
