I raided my 3 year olds sweetie cupboard last week whch is full to over flowing with the contents of party bags she's been bringing home. I picked out what I thought was some nice orange fluro coloured sherbet, bit the top off ( while thinking this is quite tough for kids ) and then started retching for the next 5 minutes as it contained something very strong and bog cleaner like. It was a glow in the dark thingy ! The Mrs got a choice mouthful once I'd calmed down and worked out I wasn't going to die.

I've got some wakame flakes which I use in making soups and sushi. Just looked on the ingredients it says it's a brown sea vegetable with the Latin name Undaria pinnatifida.Originally posted by alreadypacked View PostThis weeks addition : Japanese Sea Vegetable Salad

When ordering a chinky I always ask for a portion of crunchy seaweed. It's a great source of iodine, which is supposed to be beneficial for something or other in the body.
But a lot of restaurants are clueless about its preparation, and it ends up horribly salty, or greasy, or sprinkled with a vile orange "essence of crab" powder.Comment

Pretty sure that's just shredded green cabbage deep fried and never having been anywhere near the ocean.Originally posted by Marina View PostWhen ordering a chinky I always ask for a portion of crunchy seaweed.
