    I have tried and failed to learn the guitar. Time is the killer I found. I just don't seem to find the time to actually practice on them. I started with a cheap electric one and then my wife got me a Fender electric acoustic one. I tend to fart about on the acoustic one now more than the electric one. My hope was that practicing on the acoustic one would make playing the electric one easier - so far it hasn't. I'm still pretty slow at changing between chords, although significantly faster than when I started - I still struggle with F and B though

    Guitar Pro is quite handy to have and 'free' on the net.
    Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

    I preferred version 1!

      I borrowed a cheap and nasty guitar, bought this book and taught myself;

      Linky

      Buying a decent guitar seriously helped and within a year I did my first gig (didn't get out much that year I was so hooked on playing).

      When it comes to practice, at the beginning twenty minutes a day is sufficient more if you can do it. The real trick is not to miss any days, it has to be every day. With a good teacher you should be able to impress with a few songs in around three months.

        Ive played since Ive been 16 so let me see - yeah - 32 years Ive now been playing.

        Best tip - dont waste your time with any tutorial books - just dfind somebody who plays a bit to show you the basic chrods - G D and A will do for a start .

        Remember, your strumming hand is just a important in making the guitar really sing - too many novices get too mersmerised by remembering chord shapes with theor left they neglect their strumming technique.

        I got blisters on my fingers.

          The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

          But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

              F and B are the transition into "Bar" chords.

              Bar chords are the key to mastering the Guitar.
              I'm alright Jack

                Don't forget finger picking as well as playing with a pick.

                  Go here, find a song you know and like, download the chords and away you go. By the time you have cracked that first song you've probably picked up around half a dozen chords already...

                      back on subject: The best tip is to buy a half decent guitar. A good guitarist will struggle to make a cheap and crap guitar sound good.
