My Dad's just traded in his evo VI (Tommi Makinnen edt) for a X not actually got it yet but by all accounts it has slightly softer suspension then previous versions and does not need servicing every 5k ( every year or 10k I believe he said)

also has flappy paddle gearbox sat nav etc etc etc

any way can update you when he gets it!

It's certainly the best looking Evo so far. It reminds me of an Alpha Romeo at the rear.
Feist - 1234. One camera, one take, no editing. Superb. How they did it
Feist - I Feel It All
Feist - The Bad In Each Other (Later With Jools Holland)

I love watching the sad faces of GTI drivers in my ST rear view mirror

Brilliant car. looks great, sounds great, awsome performance... Nuff said
Ahh but they love seeing the look on your face in 3 years time when you come to trade it.

BTW I could open my mates MK1 Escort with a 5p piece.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

Residuals... Ah the old favorite. You buy these cars to have fun not to worry about what It'll be worth in 3 years time

Focus reduces 9k in 3 years
          Golf reduces approx 10k

          Do your research

BTW MK1 escort 20 - 25 years ago.... things have moved on a bit

Indeed. It's easier for the scrotes to burgle your house for the car keys, or hijack you at the lights than to steal most modern cars with typical security.

As for depreciation, my biggest loss was 11k on a Lotus over 7 months. I should have stuck to my pledge never to spend more than 10 grand on a car, that I had before I started contracting. Had some good times in those 7 months (track days etc) so it wasn't a complete waste.

I wasn't suggesting you could open a Focus with a 5p!!! I was referring to another post a few behind yours.

I take your point on residuals, I don’t know why I mention it as I always buy 1-2 years old, the magazines always seem to harp on about it though.

As for GTI v ST I don't think there's an awful lot in it performance wise, it depends if you want to stand out from the crowd or not.

I can't see the faces of most people I overtake.

Rearward vision is crap in an R8!

It’s probably just as well you can't see the hand signals then.
