went once to give while I was at uni for the sole reason of getting wasted quicker in the uni bar (blood donation was on the floor above the bar)

half way through I was quite enjoying it and feeling proud, got asked if I felt ok, I replied "it's a weird feeling isnt it?" , nurse asked "are you feeling faint?" i didnt hear her correctly and just said "sorry? what?" , they ended it there and then thinking I was about to faint. Was told as it wasnt a full pint it would be discarded

.. still got a cup of tea and biscuit though

and 3 pints later I was sorted for the evening

Actually I am not sure it is a good thing.

I have a friend who is AB- and very pleased. After all he is a universal recipient......

Hmmm, I gave blood every day for a week when my Mother was in Hospital - her group is the same as mine.

Having a rare blood type is not a good thing.

/showoff: last time I went they asked me back for extra platelets. Apparently I'm special

Did you have to eat a special diet?

Does it stop you giving blood in the future? I know they reduced number of time per year from 4 to 3 so donors would last longer.....

Is that the one where you spend 90 minutes donating?

Yes, they push the red cells and plasma back into you once they've got the platelets.

Didn't go though as they wanted me to go over to St George's in Tooting and it's a bit inconvenient.
