    Sorry to hear that.

If the transplant is inevitable, and will cure it, wouldn't it make sense to do it sooner?

I registered years ago as a bone marrow donor, but never heard a word. Guess I'm too common.

I am registered too. But you are only asked to donate if you are a match ( NHSBT - FAQ - British Bone Marrow Registry ).

Seems I am only on the register for another 15 months - though I would be upset if they found a match and needed me to donate and rejected me for being too old.

I was on contract in Edinburgh and, even though I was registered in England, they refused to register my sasanach ass.

Give blood as much as I am allowed to. Bike accident aged 18, needed heaps. Got to be done

It’s not a guaranteed cure & as you have to undergo chemotherapy there is a possible minor side effect of death so they like to make it a last option as opposed to a first
          Growing old is mandatory
          Growing up is optional

Yep, that is a troublesome side effect. Best avoided. Hope things work out. Keep well.

Probably an official anti English thing so as to keep up the proportion of carrot tops.

It was very bizarre, I was in the blood wagon, gave over my English card, and they said I'd have to register. I said ok, lets go, and they asked how long I would be in scotland, etc, after a while, I just said don't you want me to give blood, and they shrugged their shoulders.

Maybe they have lots up there, and didn't want my impurities (I am a bit Ferench you see).

A friend was in Scotland recently seeing his kids. His Southern accent was overheard in a pub. He got a mouthful of abuse which ended with "I am a teacher and I teach all my kids that".

I must admit I was fairly shocked in my 8 months there. I didn't realise they didn't like us that much.

                    Quite liked the countryside though.

                      73 today

So by end Jan should be up to 75.

I am also applying to do an interval study - which might take me up to 8 weeks between donations.

Any +ve rep for blood donation much appreciated. Or just to annoy SimonMac.
