I took the MENSA exam many years ago (I was about 20), and passed.
They sent me many newsletters full of self-congratulatory puffery. Invited me to 'conventions' where I could hob-nob with other big heads and obsessives.
In the end I employed the Groucho defense.

But I'm prepared to be proved wrong.
Miss Marple said that she was invited but wouldn't join a club that would have her as a member.
This is going to sound very pathetic, but we are on a contractor's board so what the hell.
I took and passed the Mensa tests when I was 17. They sent me a load of stuff inviting me to join, and in the social section of their magazine they said that you just have to turn up at such and such pub, and look for the Mensa sign (Memblem they call it) on the table.
It all sounded rather sordid so I didn't bother.
12 years later, I am sharing a flat in London with a flatmate, the only women I meet are the ones that I work with, or ones that the flatmate works with. Which is not very satisfactory.
So I think to myself, what can I do to meet more women? I need to join some sort of club. What sort of club can I join?
So I take the Mensa tests again.
Surprisingly, after 12 years of, er, doing grown-up things that can't do your brain any good, I score exactly the same score again, and I join.
But, while waiting to get the results through, I meet Mrs Gonzo in a pub in the west end. So I have never joined in any of their activities.

Silly club for clever (but with few social skills) folk. My brother fits in well...."See, you think I give a tulip. Wrong. In fact, while you talk, I'm thinking; How can I give less of a tulip? That's why I look interested."Comment
