Do you still have the SuS law in the UK? Never, ever take any action against the police because once you do, your life will be a living hell.“Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.” -

Otherwise anyone could be arrested because plod thought they "might be up to no good". Of course they'd love to be able to arrest anyone at any time on the most spurious grounds and through a combination of apathy, jackbooted politicians and "if you've got nothing to hide" morons, we're half way there.
exactly the point. If everyone who was suspected of committing a crime was arrested, where would we be?Comment

I have seen a few posts on CUK about contractors standing up for their rights - just trying to point out what will happen if one should try.Originally posted by Board Game Geek View PostJudging from the antics on the PDF which I have read, I'd be inclined to say that their past behaviour seems irrational enough to warrant concern.
Put it another way, if I was a Commander in the Police and one of my underlings came up to me and said :
"Sir, we've got a group of citzens with previous, who have scaled buildings, used loudhalers, scared the general public, blah blah blah"
then my next thought would be "What next ? At what point does one of these unhinged protesters "snap" and the general public are at risk of real harm ?"
And now CUK has an indirect association with you, since you are an identifiable poster here, and the cops took away the computer.
I bet CUK would be well chuffed for the advertising :
From an imaginary Sun newspaper article: "F4J Rebel Terrorists Take to The Net ! Investigations have revealed that the lunatic F4J Cell are using a Computer Contractor Forum to discuss their grievances, and no doubt plan futher attacks...blah blah blah"
Seem far fetched ? I don't think so...
And you are close on the sun headline - look at the Leo Blair thing. An alledged conversation in a pub turned into a solid plot.
That conversation was supposed to be between 4 people, MM, JH, EG and JS. All four had visits from SO13 the following week. SO13 just spoke then walked off without waiting for reply. They said "dont put us in a position where we have to shoot you". All four were very confused.
BTW one of those 4 is coming to the kids baptism on Sunday...Comment

And how long for is it now? 28 days? 42 ays?Originally posted by zeitghost
You must be joking...
This country has effectively been a police state for 4 or 5 years now.
They can arrest & detain you without any reason whatever.
Mind you - if I get atw a batman costume, then make a call to the rossers, we might be without his posts for a while...Comment

I could understand them mounting a surveillance operation due to worries that they may do something but arresting them is ridiculous. I would suggest that if they really thought they were going t do something they would have waited for them to incriminate themselves and then made an easy arrest and made their figures look better.
Sounds like abuse of process to me!Comment
