What is the problem with alcohol and violence? Surely it is the violence.

What is the solution? Not alcohol tax, licensing hours, or alcohol bans: but rather stopping the violence, however it is caused. Police on streets, arrests, consequences, etc.

Why are they drinking so much in the first place ?

No jobs, no future, no hope.

      It's a spiral.

When you are surrounded by poo, and everything in the uk is poo, is it little wonder that some of it sticks and drags you down ?

Nail the root causes...not the after effects.
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

First they came for the smokers,
and I did not speak out -because I was not a smoker.
Then they came for the obese,
and I did not speak out -because I was not obese.
Then they came for the alcoholics,
and I did not speak out -because I was not an alcoholic.
Then they came for me - and there was no one left to speak for me.

You've come right out the other side of the forest of irony and ended up in the desert of wrong.

              Computer games.

After I've been to the pub. And then always in cheat mode as I get killed way too easily.

              You?

                    Try: -

                    1) Growing giant marrows
                    2) Building model railways
                    3) Bell ringing
                    4) Brass rubbing

It will get you out and meeting people!

How about Freemasonry, being a local councillor, a trainee JP and doing volunteer work in the local community?

                      Will that do?
