I suspect that might have been a touch scary. When I was young and irresponsible back in the early '80s I did the same thing on my Jota. It may have been quick in it's day but flat out down the mountain it was like a pig on roller skates.
Not 'arf mate! Half way down the hill there is a bit of a dip, then a crest, almost unnoticed at the usual 70mph. At 150 it was only the steering damper which stopped a full blown tank slapper. Other highlights of my day included being undertaken on a left hander by a nutter on a full race prep 125 when I had my knee almost down (I had to lift my knee to let him through!) and taking my mate round on the back and him dropping the video camera when we took off over the bridge
You're all so brave. I can't manage more then 70 these days. I did go 140km in my dads Pointac with about 6 kids in it once. The scariest was in the US the rain was pouring down so much that the fronts were aquaplaning. That was in a converted chevy van with about 13 lads on a two week trip to a mate's wedding in Indiana. Then there was the time in Minnesota where again the rain was chucking it and the lightening would illuminate for miles so you could see farm houses, towers etc. spectacular, wish I had the camera then.

140mph indicated in my Skoda, 170mph indicated in the Banana. The same place, where the A1(M) is 4 lanes just after Peterborough.
Ah - brilliant bit of road.
Blew my stereo up along there once. It was a Beemer and the stereo adjusted volume automatically according to speed, goes quiet at traffic lights, gets louder as you accelerate.
I'd had a bad day and the stereo was very loud anyway, I hit that stretch of road and accelerated up to the limiter (about 130), the stereo couldn't cope and just cut out.
It's not the MPH you need to watch when going flat out, it's the RPM. Most 'normal' cars with an engine-size of 2000cc and above hit the 'red line' at around 120 mph, so it's not advisable to go up to max speed without risking engine damage. One of the easiest car to speed has to be the Aston Martin DB9. I borrowed a friend's and managed 150 mph on the approach to Aylesbury on the M41 (nice dip and swerve) sometime ago. So effortless, it was unbelievable. BTW, a lot of you seem to be speeding on the M4 - I always thought those camera signs were fake, but I may be wrong - I wait till get on the M5 down to Devon/Cornwall to hit upwards of 100 mph.
