The reason he probably didnt send you an email is probably because you are an obnoxious self important little pr*ck who he would rather not speak to again.

I have had that where some slimy contract PM was all over me like a rash when he was desperate for a contract (yes you Mr Austin). I didnt get him the contract at the client, but I put him in touch with the agency who did-for no personal gain, and when I called him a month later to see if he had any business, instead of politely declining decided to score points by being rude.
Bawling your eyes out + self important little ***** = "score points by being rude." [Dodgy Agent]

Can anyone else see the irony here?

Not to mention the fact that EBs also expect contractors not to jump ship mid contract when it is their own client they've sourced for. Apparently, according to you, it doesn't seem to matter if some other EB gets stuffed and when it does it's perfectly reasonable.

Now who was it that keeps telling me that I just go on a self important whinge and don't post logical answers? Hmmmmmm....

Tell me DA, can I suggest an addendum to my revised recruiter to client model - that you issue your contractors with Loyalty Cards like Nectar?

Regardless of the situation, you should remain professional at all times otherwise you only serve to embarrass yourself.

          Be polite
          Be professional

          It's all a game.

          Just my 2p.

Thank you. I've printed that out, cut it out and blu-takked it to my monitor.

(Now I just need someone to read it to me every so often. )

E.D. makes a lot of sense.. no matter how much people hate pimps.. it never pays to bite the hand.

I avoid em as much as I can.. but when I deal with them I am always professional, never know when you may need them. I know we all hate them, but, when we need them, they can be useful.

So the answer is, if you hate them so much is, do not send them your details. However most people are not in the position where their existing client base can ALWAYS cover them.

I have been fortunate that up to now in my current incarnation my clients have kept me busy without the need for agencies, but, that does not mean I will never need them.. So.. golden rules.. yes.. keep to your commitments and, no, don't be an arse when saying you are keeping your commitments. Dogs need a bone.. so let em have the marrow.. let them actually think it is worth talking to you at some point.

Otherwise when you need the devil's spawn, they will ignore you.

As regarding information on who I am working for right now.. I always say, I am sorry but i am bound by confidentiality clauses, I can speak to you about what I have been doing, I just cannot explain to you who I am doing it for.

Guess I ran out of things to say.

              Regards,

              Jason.

Scum: Hello I was just calling to see if you were in a contract

Me: Yes I am, I don't finish until May

Scum: Would you consider leaving your contract early

Me: Yes of course, for the right rate

                Scum: Which is?

Me: (thinking of my rate and adding a large number)

                Scum: Shouldnt be a problem

Me: Cool , sort it out and I'll be there

So long as he/she didn't disclose his/her current client, that's just setting yourself up for a fall.

I think most of us would jump ship for the right job and the right rate, despite our claims to the contrary of diligently seeing the contract through.

I'd never leave a client in the lurch though - always do a proper handover and give them enough time to find a replacement.

Omigod! GCR99 is only in contracting for the money! I thought we all did it as a hobby, to pay for agents' holidays or out of love for the clients.

Well done, DA, for spotting this highly dodgy and clearly unique individual.
