Yes he did say he would email the guy, and yes he should have kept his word, but he was probably too polite to say

    "f**k off you snivelling jerk"
he did ask if he worked at xyz - a response would probably have bought on your qus above.

Though I agree the agent did nothing wrong - its his job to fish and our job to tell them nothing.

OK OK... maybe it was a completely innocent call about a real juicy contract, and when the OP made clear he wasn't interested he may have been trying to find out when his current end date was so he could contact again in the future.

But.... quite often those conversation continue thus "who are you working for, what is your rate, who is your line manager, who else is hiring" etc etc.

I agree that the anger of the OP was unjustified, hence my original post here of 'get over it'.

        Peace?
It's about time I changed this sig...

IMO DA is quite right to say what he did - we are all supposed to be business(wo)men and should conduct ourselves accordingly.

If it's not accountants having a go at us, it's agents.

                  It's good to talk

I agree with Dodgy here - the old art of communication is lost, judging by most of the responses that I get when talking to members of a/my project team. A grunt means 'yes' and shaking of the head means 'no'. I would expect more from a highly-paid fellow IT consultant. Especially when talking to a potential lead that will bring £££££ in revenue. I don't agree with some agencies' underhand practices, but this seems an entirely plausible enquiry.
Unless it's pub talk, most of the IT guys are shy, tongue-tied, humourless and clueless.

Well, duh. Where have you been? Why do you think we're called geeks and nerds? It's not for our social skills.

Suprise surprise, the fisher never emailed me!
Sounds like you have hacked off an agent, could cost youy dear in work when you are needing some.

this game is all about networking - agents talk to each other as us contractors do. You are not doing yourself any favours.

Out of interest, how old are you??
