I took 11 weeks off this year. I think a "true" contractor either takes loads of time off, or very little. 25 days is very suspicious.

For the first quarter, I'll only be working 4 days per week. One day off for skiing.

Just the way it has worked out this year, NotAllThere. Typically it does tend to be at either ends of the scale - i.e. a great deal or virtually none.

Final count = 12, so a lot less than I thought.

                12 is more like it.

I have seen that next year will be the year of hell, or will lead into the year of hell 2009. Hence why it's a good idea to batten down some hatches and make sure you have made hay while the sun shone.

I've had about 10 planned days off and about 20 unplanned days. 'course most of the planned days were bank holidays...

I've taken 1 week (5 days) and about five single days over long weekends since starting as a contractor in April. Mind you, I'm having two and a half weeks off over Christmas (most of it client shutdown) and a week off skiing in Feb. That will total about 23 days....oops!?
