This reminds me of the tragic situation that happened with Alison Gertz - the middle upper class, respectable, white New Yorker who contracted AIDS very tragically at the age of 22 in the early 80s even though she wasn't promiscuous or a drug addict nor had she undergone a dodgy blood transfusion. She just unfortunate enough to have slept only one time with a boy she met in a bar in her teens, 6 years before who, unbenown to him, was already HIV positive (at the time when little was known about AIDs at that time).

When she was in hospital with what was at first a mysterious illness that was left undiagnosed for quite some time (as it didn't occur to any doctor to test her for AIDS) she was asked if she had ever taken drugs to find out more about what could be wrong. She admitted to having taken Coke and weed once. After she was diagnosed with AIDS from subsequent tests that revealed that she had PCP (an AIDS related form of Pneumonia) - the reason for her admission to hospital - her father's medical bills that totalled over 100,000 dollars were not covered when the medical insurers realised she had told the doctors about this drug taking in passing, even though her recreational experiment with drugs, many years, before had no bearing on her current condition or the reason for the claim.

The moral of the tale is this: it seems that lying or omitting to mention on your medical insurance form any illness or medically related condition that could prove detremental to health either then or later will normally invalidate any subsequent claim, even if the reason for the claim has no relevance to the omission or lie uncovered.

Lads - peoples views are always going to differ on a subject as volatile as this...

It should just be left now.

Agreed. My personal belief is all drugs should be legalised so they can be regulated (a view shared by not a few senior police officers).
For whatever reason, people have taken whatever drugs they could lay their hands on since the dawn of time.
It's only a problem when it goes underground and leads to criminality by a few.

What's with the "really odd" comment? Are you implying that I'm lying about working for Accenture?!! please - I could make up better tales than that. I've never filled a medical form in for ANY job, ever!

And I really dont think that we filled out questions for our insurance either - I actually believe strongly in telling the truth on those things, else it's pointless paying for it. So much so that I made my lad put down he was a smoker, cause he smokes grass a couple of times a year.

And seriously, you need to get a life like. I did "go to" my mates hen weekend...which was, when was it? You clearly remember more about my life than I do you saddo!
I honestly forgot about that - was it in March maybe?

That was a one off for about the past year or so.....unless you can remember anything else I've said in passing

Wooooow mate, keep yer hair on, why so aggressive and defensive whenever you don’t like someone’s questions or someone says something not to your liking, this is a discussion board, if you want to know I am working on a project that involves designing systems with medical questionnaires for applicants, I also have recently took on a private health/dental; insurance, and that also included such questions, just was wondering if you mentioned your drug taking in your applications and how high would the premium be for such a case.

I do remember things you said I hope you wont take this the wrong way, but I wonder if you are aware of what you are doing – (heh I am a saddo) but lets look at what I remember:

1- You indulge in recreational drugs (the one I remembered is cocke but you mentioned a few more today)
2- You love your drink, binge drink is funny to you and you are quite proud of it (ok this is something a lot of people do)
3- You are/were addicted to some kind of online gambling in the last few months, remember you posting you lost a lot of money, but can’t remember how much
4- You are addicted to food, drove your body to the limit and grossly obese, you mentioned you grow a size every few months (before going on your diet that is)
5- You have investigated stomach stabling and other various unhealthy options

But you keep saying you are OK and you are a solid lass etc etc… mate please please please do yourself a favour and admit it, you are not OK in spite of all the happy laughing exterior!! Perhaps you need to speak to someone??

Its only a suggestion, but please for your own sake don’t just dismiss what I say just because it came from me… please please examine what I said, look in the mirror and admit to yourself your weaknesses… if you think I am talking bulls then that’s fine am happy to be wrong on this occasion.
