Get a life? Dont be so melodramatic. Its my house, if I dont want people walking inside with dirty shoes, I am allowed to. I do not understand how people could be offended by being asked, some people ask when they see the shoes at the front door, and just smile and say that it be good if they could. Some people just take them off, but a minority act like some people in this thread.
The people who are so insecure as to get offended over it, arent the types I would want to socialise with anyway.
If you are at ease with it, why the need for a poll on the matter?
People always get super defensive when personal cleanliness is bought into question. No surprise there I guess, but this thread has shown the 'clean challenged' amongst us.

Because I was curious if all Brits were so disgusting, luckily it would appear not, most appear to be sensible (going by poll result, not comments), and just a vocal minority are getting defensive.
