Only need 3 more months of contract before I reach my retirement goal, and I have until next Nov to get that. And it looks likely I will renewed here anyway... so will prob work until March.. then have all the rest of the year off while the wife finishes her contract .. then head back to NZ

Nov next year its good bye UK and contracting forever...

My predecessors were and their fathers before them, I’ve taken it off my CV though as it won’t help me in my new career.

My skill was to head to the airport and find somewhere that wasn't in recession. If we have another recession, well I'm AlreadyPacked.

heh, last downturn support people were getting £10 per hour for contract (that wast around 2001-2002, I remember a few of you support guys having to take a contract so cheap (remember someone ashamed of accepting such rate, but he needed to buy his daughter a Xmas present and was worried if he didn't extend @10-15 p.h he'd just be on the bench for a year or so - poor guy )

I've dodged downturns before by swapping countries. Next time I plan on doing stuff all instead.

Did you get the four figure contract ? Were you off to Goa or Oz ?
