I realise that being a contractor (or even a permie nowadays) you have to live with the insecurity of your employment emding, but having your contract extended is certainly a boost for morale if nothing else.
My original contract for my curretn position was for 5 months (May-Sept). With just 1 month left of this I was offered and extension of 3 months (Oct- Dec) and with just 1 month of starting this extension I have been offered a further 6 month extension (Dec-June) so I think I can be quite pleased with the impression I am making with my employers.

Of course they probably don't know I spend quite a bit of time posting on here
    It's Deja-vu all over again!

Just been called in for a 1-2-1 with the head honcho on the project, whom I (as a lowly peasant) had never actually met before.

He outlined the plans for next 6 months and asked me to be a part of the reduced ("small but perfectly formed") team who will be kept on for this period.

Seems like it may not be all smoke and mirrors then.

          Okay, where are my fireworks?

It was a polite hint - he told you what you will be missing before sacking you.

Just you and him then, "perfectly formed". Are you a girl or a boy?

I got "it's a long story" answer, "before your time" etc.
