On the plus side - you can phone DHL and they will keep it at your (not so) local depot for as long as you ask them to.
"very reasonable resolutions"???? Getting it delivered to your neighbours workplace is a reasonable resolution?!!!

And no they wont hold on to it for as long as you want!! I rang them this morning and the woman said it will be returned to the International depot in 6 days, and I couldn't request they hold on to it any longer!!!!

Could you please arrange the counseling? I fear I'm going to attack the next DHL truck I see

Why would I take a day off and loose a day's pay, to have a £60 parcel delivered?!!
      Pubs dont open until 11.
I have a lorry driver, a nurse, a policeman and a teacher as my neighbours.
Local businesses...I live in town. I'll ask WH Smiths tonight if they wouldn't mind taking it in for me - great idea!

I didn't say take a day off to get this parcel delivered. I said when you do take a day off plan ahead and have thigs delivered on that day. Then you will meet the couriers who deliver them. They tend to do the same areas and will likely be the ones who deliver to you again. Try and be a little more friendly than you have been in this thread and the next time they deliver they might do you a favour like leave it in your "very secure front of my property".

At least 2 of your neighbours work shifts. Why don't you find out their shift patterns and plan deliveries for days and times they are home. My neighbours are a policeman and a nurse and their shift patterns are very useful.

I can't speak for the WH Smiths in my road but thats because the optician and the florist are closer and they will take parcels for me.

Pubs may not open until 11 but the publican may live above the pub and sign for it anyway. My local has beer deliveries on a Monday so thats always a good day as the deliveries arrive before opening.

I'm running low on ideas here but before I go my last one. Stump the extra cash and pay for Saturday delivery.

And I don't work for DHL - I'm just used to making a plan and getting things done.

Thank you for your very useful suggestions Kelvin - I will ensure that I find out the shift patterns of my neighbours so I can get them out of bed when my internet shopping arrives.

Why not tell them to throw it over the garden fence or leave it under the flowerpot strategically left out the night before or something? Course the downside would be that you’d never get to actually see your package.

                    Rag week, SA?

Take the day off, get your parcel, and relax. You need it.

That would be why I said "Make friends with your neighbours". You might then discover that nurses usually work 12 hours shifts or longer which means they have a few days off in a row during the week. My neighbours starts her night shift tomorrow night so she's been off since Monday. Today is not a good day for her to sign for a parcel though because she's going in to Uni for her Advanced Nurse Practitioner course.

In case you've missed it - try being nice to people. You'll get a lot more accomplished and not just parcel delivery.
