Yes there is, it becomes habitual, your judgement over whats safe and what is dangerous varies day to day and to be honest I wouldn't trust what you consider to be safe as I wouldn't trust most other drivers, including myself.

So then why would you trust what the govt says is safe then?

have always wondered, the huge amount of speed cameras on M42 (east birmingham) around the airport, do they work? tomtom says its a 50mph camera, have seen hundreds of people go through them doing 75/80..

isn't that a variable speed limit area? cameras should only be active when the 50mph limit is in force

What about the M25 with their variable speed limits? When it shows national speed limit (70) most drivers are doing 80-95. Do the speed cameras on the overhead wotnots not work properly?

I suggest the fine and points deducted should depend on age.

Up to 30 and you get hit hardest.
                      Reductions each decade thereafter.
60s and onwards it goes up again.

Speed contributes to the severity of the accident.

Caught once but I still break 60/70 limits every day.
