There was an arcade game on the grand pier in Weston where you had to physically bash little fluffy moles with an oversize mallet as they pooped up out of their holes... very satisfying.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

Just got an old house to do up, so I envisage it will be something like get up a bit earlier than I want to with kids, play with the kids until the Mrs get up, play at DIY a bit, have a long lunch with Mrs and kids, play at DIY a bit, tinker with garden for a bit, tea with Mrs and kids, kids to bed, watch a bit of telly and have a few lagers, bed, then repeat. Chuck in a few weekends in the Lakes and few weeks in the sun somewhere and after about 4 months I might be ready for some more boredom.

How does that sound ? What would you do ?

Jesus Rootsnall - I'd rather be at work!!! I know they say kids change your life like, but seriously, thats all you'd do?!

            For me, it'd be: -

walk down the beach, get papers and fresh bread
hour long breakfast, read papers, pop eggs on bread
an hour of chores round the house
baths for a lovely swim and jacuzzi
pop for coffee, read gossip magazine
cinema to see the latest chick flick on my own
shopping for dvd, new top, make up, etc
meet other half for 3 hour tea of wine, cheese, olives, meats
home for 9 to snugle up in bed with dvd I bought.
            smoochie smoochie,
            then sleep.

Ahhhh perfection! If only I could fit a non-fat Toblerone in there somewhere...

Sounds good, make the most of the no kids phase !

A bit sad but that's about the extent of my 'on the bench' ambitions at the moment. Geriatric parenthood takes it out of you ! Slight thoughts of taking the whole family to Oz for a month or so but 2 little uns on a long haul flight is a bit daunting.

No kids isn't a phase!!! Well maybe, I'm not sure yet

Ah bless you - it sounds lovely really man, I was only messing with you. If you're content in your own life, then you cant ask for more really can you?!

Its a shame you cant get family cabins on long haul flights. Are your kids very old?

I am about to make the trip for a holiday next friday with family. We are breaking it up by a week though. Not going to be fun.

Hour long breakfasts, reading the papers.

difficult once kids are around. However, playing with said kids is also great fun!

and taking them on a flight - nightmare!!
