I wonder how many people who comment on Enoch have actually read the speech that got him fired?

He seems to be suggesting that basic public services such as NHS maternity provision would be denied to indigenous (and by that he seems to mean white) people because immigrants (and or the children of immigrants) would have the "whip hand" and get all the provision in preference to others.

To that extent I think he was mistaken and the speech doesn't really stand up to examination in a modern-day context.

Apparently, people have tried to find out who the woman who wrote to him about being a prisoner in her empty boarding house was without success. Since he's dead and she almost certainly is, we'll probably never know, but it would be interesting to hear the story from both sides.
