Suddenly, the world just makes more sense.
No, the brand was always just French Connection. As they became more global, they started to add the location as in internal identifier - thus French Connection Hong Kong became FCHK, and the United Kingdom branch became the brand that we see today.
Such was the success of the UK branch, it seems to have dominated the marketing.
