The guy is on PAYE? I thought these guys would be using Ltd companies!The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.
But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.” -

Footballers are on PAYE for the club earnings.
However, any sponsorship, advertising, branding, merchandising etc (think Beckham etc) is always on a separate ltd, and yes, it will be paid offshore, non-dom, tax free etc.
So don't be fooled, they pay a tiny fraction of their "earnings" as taxable income.
But that's okay, it's "fair".Comment
