    Its not money motivated honest....

Maybe he was caught by IR35? Team orders seem direction and control and I doubt he is allowed to substitute!

Strange situation - surely he travels around the world for all these competitions so he can easily spent more than 181 days per year outside of UK and therefore not be a tax resident?

You have to leave to become non-resident for tax purposes

Have they changed it? I thought being out for more than 183 days would automatically make you non-tax payer. I suppose this is what he is doing anyway, this all is obviously about taxes, but fair play to him.

He was looking in Monte Carlo, and surely that's a better tax haven, not to mention the traditional home for racing drivers. Seems a bit odd to me.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

Makes perfect sense to me - there is a nuclear shelter for every Swiss resident, plus you can get a legit assault rifle: I might move there myself

You have to be resident somewhere else for 183 days to become resident there. You have to be ex UK for 1 clear tax year to become non domiciled.

In Switzerland, if you're rich enough, you tell the tax authorities of various cantons and communities that you're interested in moving there, and ask them how much tax they'd require you to pay.

Even for an ordinary earner, a move from one town to another can result in a tax saving of a few hundred swiss francs a month.

You can only get a gun as a foreigner if you've a permanent resident "C" permit. Usually an EU citizen gets their C-permit after 5 years. There's a few other checks and restrictions as well.

Personally, I think he's going to Switzerland to be closer to the ski resorts.
