For 110 years, beating England was Scotland's only raison d'etre!Originally posted by shaunbhoy View PostNot much bolstering happening on that score wendigo. In roughly 100+ matches between the "Auld Enemies", England were only ahead something like 44-41 with the rest drawn. Hardly an "annual thrashing", but don't let that fact deflect your rosy spectacles. I am actually a little flattered that you would still be using Scotland as your benchmark for success.

It is as close as 44-41 because England usually had bigger fish to fry. Unlike the period from 1970 when we took a well-earned rest from qualifying for tournaments. 5-0 at Hampden on a cold winter's night was a real pick-me-up at the time, I can tell you.

For most of the last 100+ years England haven't even had a fishing rod!

That's a bit rich coming from a compatriot of Ally McCleod, whose worthy efforts at fishing involved trying to spear Iran and Peru with a blunt cocktail stick!Originally posted by shaunbhoy View PostBigger fish to fry??

Talksport this morning are saying that the "chosen one" is in line for the job.
The FA will never do that, they've just got rid of one good manager in Sven, to employ another who will fail will point to the fact that the deficientcy in the england set up is not in the manager but elsewhere...Cenedl heb iaith, cenedl heb galon

I'd be surprised if they could afford Jose - or that he wants to do it at the moment. There must be better options for him out there.Originally posted by Bluebird View PostTalksport this morning are saying that the "chosen one" is in line for the job.

Managed to spear Holland with it though. And that at a World Cup that England watched on telly!Originally posted by wendigo100 View PostThat's a bit rich coming from a compatriot of Ally McCleod, whose worthy efforts at fishing involved trying to spear Iran and Peru with a blunt cocktail stick!

I'd be surprised if Mourinho takes it.
I'm not so sure, he loves publicity [ more than any other england manager in the past ] - perhaps its a perfect fit...
He wouldn't be put off by the press, I think the only thing that would stop him doing it is knowing the crap players he's have to work with...Cenedl heb iaith, cenedl heb galon
