I have met some very, very attractive Iranian women in my time. Not to keen on the old covering up tulipe, either!

I saw something on News 24 about how Iranian women were being more daring with their dress by having some of their hair showing and how a few had abandoned the head scarf altogether, yet in this country the full on burka is becoming more commonplace.

It seems whilst Muslim women in Iran are trying to gain some sort of equality and respect as equals to men by standing up to traditionalists the opposite is happening in this country, I would go as far to say some are being deliberately controversial.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

It's a little more complicated than that. There are many Iranians, the more educated, who consider themselves Persians, descendants of the Great Persian Empire of Darius. To them the Islamicists are hicks from the sticks. After the revolution in 1979 and during the eighties, these people kept their head down (or were forced down), but as the country gets younger demographically these impulses are increasing.
