It's a little more complicated than that. There are many Iranians, the more educated, who consider themselves Persians, descendants of the Great Persian Empire of Darius. To them the Islamicists are hicks from the sticks. After the revolution in 1979 and during the eighties, these people kept their head down (or were forced down), but as the country gets younger demographically these impulses are increasing.Originally posted by gingerjedi View PostI saw something on News 24 about how Iranian women were being more daring with their dress by having some of their hair showing and how a few had abandoned the head scarf altogether, yet in this country the full on burka is becoming more commonplace.
It seems whilst Muslim women in Iran are trying to gain some sort of equality and respect as equals to men by standing up to traditionalists the opposite is happening in this country, I would go as far to say some are being deliberately controversial.

I have met some very, very attractive Iranian women in my time. Not to keen on the old covering up tulipe, either!Originally posted by gingerjedi View PostI may be generalising here but I do find it quite ironic that the Iranian cultural attaché's wife was (I can only presume) a 'moderate muslim' judging by her dress, must be quite shocking to come over here and see what modern western culture has done to some of ours.

Wasn't she the bint of the Iranian cultural attaché?Originally posted by gingerjedi View PostHhmm maybe I'm attracted to dykes.
Why was Adam boffing the ugly bint at the beginning? I'm not gay but I can tell he's a good looking man and I'm sure he could do better than that.

Because the baddies would have picked up the signal before they picked him up! Duh!Originally posted by Ruprect View PostI liked the 3 minute injected tracking device. Why didn't Adam just shove one up his botty?

Didn't they cover this before - there is some tribe of iraq/iran area where it's quite common to be blonde?Originally posted by sasguru View PostQuite. I think the sight of a blond bloke in a woolly cap loitering suspiciously at a bomb explosion in Tehran would usually cause a few more raised eyebrows
Always thought that a bit tenuous.
