You are not reading it correctly. Allow me to elaborate. The Scottish are indeed more intelligent than the English in so much as we can generalise about such things. That is why, for example, such august bodies as the UK Government and indeed large parts of the Opposition are either Scottish or have some genetic connection (e.g Cameron). However, it is highly unlikely that said Scots can possibly be "tulipe" at football as we are currently sitting atop the toughest group in the competition, have won the last 6 consecutive matches, and also beat England the last time we played them in a competitive match.

And given the mess they have made of running the country I think we can be sure that intelligence is not the Scots' strongest trait....
