I think you will find that he is a big kid with a strong streak of arrogance. And whilst he may indeed be an elitist snob himself the message he gives is one of down to earth self effacement.. which as you may rightly suggest is his way of hiding his own weaknesses.Let us not forget EU open doors immigration benefits IT contractors more than anyone -
To be absolutely honest, I do find some of his stuff both funny & clever... but now I am (like, I think, many) bored to feckin' tears with the act he puts on. And it is an act.Originally posted by DodgyAgent View PostI think you will find that he is a big kid with a strong streak of arrogance. He is now firmly in the brigade of wankies who think that automatically gainsaying equals edginess and coolness. It just doesn't: it drowns the good stuff they might come up with.Comment

The skill he has is being able to rant in an amusing and lighthearted way. Something the likes of Max Hastings, Littlejohn or Hitchens can only dream of.The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.
But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”Comment

his main job is that of an entertainer... considering the huge ratings and fan base that top gear has, i can say he is entertaining on an enormous scale.
Top Gear has everything you could want in a TV program (except for tits (queue jokes along the lines of "what about Clarkson")).Coffee's for closersComment
