Yes but what if you were out of contract, and there wasn't much to go on ni the market -- surely then you would consider a permie job to get out of the rut and to keep things ticking over?

Yes - to keep ticking over for a bit, and then move on in better times. I've had three consultancies enquire direct this year, but I've told them "not at the moment" rather than "no". Just in case...

How much do the benefits and bonus usually count for?

All the job adds say total compensation 250,000 to 500,000. Is 250,000 one hundred grand plus bonus or two hundred grand plus bonus or something in between?

Not that I'm ready to jump ship and join the permies yet, but always be prepared.

Only if the benefit were real benefits (a la America). so dental insurance, medical insurance, glasses, gym membership, subsidised season pass, broadband to connect to the office, etc.. Not just 4 weeks holiday a year!

Spock: "Trained? Judging from you, I would have guessed it was trial and error."

I was a permie in East Anglia in 2005 and was paid £35K p.a.

GBP. Puts the top of the range into Dr. Evil territory. They are just ads from job agencies, so maybe not true. My contracting rates are less than what the permie job ads are saying they pay for what I do (sums).

The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”
