The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.
But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”
I think DBA'a got a point...they probably weren't too bothered about statistics in the middle of WW2 (unlike nowadays) - they played most things Germany did down. And when the SCUD's were on target they did a lot of damage in built-up areas....don't know if the V2 was accurate though?
Let's not forget the effectiveness of the V2. It could level a large area. And I bet it was simply too tempting to fix the figures at that very dark time in London.

I just think they had better things to do than count deaths per bomb / missile. Unlike today's attitudes with legions of civil servants, analyse and 'assess risk' culture...the attitude must have been to get on with things....

Completely wrong. Statistics were meticulously collected in world war 2. It's crucial to do so in a war to understand damage etc. Whether they were released at the time is a different matter.
NO missiles can do as much damage as area bombing by planes - plus rocket technology is too expensive for carpet bombing. Nuclear missiles are totally different of course

I think that depends on your viewpoint - are you talking WWII vintage? If so then you'd have to discount Nuclear missiles as they weren't developed by then.
The reason we had to carpet bomb cities is that WWII vintage bombs and delivery vehicles are inaccurate - you can do the same amount of damage (to your intended target) with a good TLAM these days.
"See, you think I give a tulip. Wrong. In fact, while you talk, I'm thinking; How can I give less of a tulip? That's why I look interested."
Lets try sticking to the facts. You seem to be quite good at this rewriting history malarky yourself
Not rewriting history. Just a very, very obvious extrapolation. Following Pearl Harbor, the US finished converting to a war economy, which was already well underway with the US's sending of weapons to the UK and to the Soviets.
If the Germans had landed they would have won In a few weeks. And don't argue till you have read all available literature on the subject
Absolute tosh, and I have read much of the available literature. You mentioned the main reason yourself, the channel.
The germans might have been able to launch some sort of airborne assault, but would have been unable to adequately re-supply and reinforce it as they would have been unable to capture or hold any port facilities that had not been put out of commission. Neither would they have been able to maintain seaborne support due to the superiority of the Royal Navy. The nazi paras would eventually have been driven back to the coast and killed or captured. Best you leave the military analysis to those of us that understand it. Why not stick to subjects you understand, like crocheting and such like?
