I presume you mean the crime, etc. I was thinking about the communities that once exited there. I lived there for a bit, so have first hand experience of the bad & good aspects of Moss Side.

Perhaps he was a mugger who sold E at the sh1te Hacienda.

Never understood why someone (Tony Wilson) who was supposedly the saviour of live music opened a dance club.
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

I lived there before, during and after the 'makeover'. Most of the communities are still there - just not under each others noses. The crime didn't go away with the pretty little Redrow-style houses, though, you're right about that. I still live nearby - I can't see it ever getting 'gentrified' or whatever the term is, which is kind of a shame as it's really handy for the motorway and the city centre.

Last time I was there, I thought I detected the first signs of "gentrification": more "middle class" cars, etc. But, no, hardly Hobbiton, just yet!

"24 Hour Party People": a reasonably accurate biog. of Tony's later life and his crackers, yet wonderful, "business model"!!
