What would life be like without the noble ciggy
Gone would be the warm yellow/brown glow of nicotine stained monitors
Gone would be the comforting sound of hacking flegm filled thoats being cleared.
Gone would be the time honoured game of chasing the fag end down the urinal with the yellow stream of vengeance
Never more to flourish that foil wrapped notepad when asked for notepaper
No more handy foil to wrap that blown fuse
and some think the world a better place without the noble ciggy
Aww OK, the ciggies can stay but all the smokers can feck off.
I am an ex smoker and believe that there should be no ban.
I object to the ban and I find the "ban it" brigade to be particularly selfish. They keep banging on about smoke free environments and choice yet they have done precisely fook all but winge to make it happen.
When this ban comes in the choice taht the banners brigade is so fond of brandishing will be removed from smokers. They are free to go outside or stay at home they say and we have rights you know.
Yet they seem to forget that they have had the choice of going outside or staying at home for centuries yet they have singularly failed to exercise that right. Even when non smoking pubs have been made available there has been no mad rush to use them. They have had every right to open a no smoking venue themselves yet very few have.
Smokers will not be able to open smoking venues.
This ban is bullying of the worst form.

Feel better now?
I left an assigment for you on TPD
I was a smoker in NYC when they brought the ban in there and it was the final piece in the stopping smoking jigsaw for me. I smoked for the first 6 months of it, and to be honest it's not such a big deal, and that's in a city where outside seating areas in bars and pubs are pretty rare.
What's amazing is after a year or so with the ban in place most people, including some smokers btw, look back in amazment on how they got away with it for so long. I'm sure the people thought the same thing when smoking was banned in offices but now I can't believe it even happened.

Don't get me wrong darling, I am all for smoke free pubs and other public places, I just do not like bans of any order.
This one particularly narks me because of all the self rightous ponces saying "you are killing me" who are not willing to walk out of the door for the good of their health but are quite happy to push others out.

Yeah I know - I'm pretty much the same you know, after all my ranting.
I want to give up. Pubs DO stink. It IS really for the best and all that. It just makes me so mad that it's being forced on people.
I dare say I'll still buy my patches and stuff tomorrow.
