Time will tell who is right: my opinions are of main important for myself as they allow me to choose the strategy that I believe is correct. Whether someone else believes them or not is really of no importance to me.

And for the most part of what I have read, you two argue worse than an old married couple.

Could you 2 guys just meet up and show each other your Pen1s's so you can just see who's is bigger than who's , and the save the rest of us from your constant small minded bickering.

You should take a look at this country (Norway) most expensive manufacturing I've seen for a while yet if anything output only increases. How is it they can do it we cannot? UK Manufacturing should not be allowed to die like the gover.. seem keen to allow.

I'm working in the marine industry mostly, components for surface vessels both commercial and defence, I guess both busy sectors at the moment. However saying that I worked in near identical industries in the UK only a year ago my main client was making a loss.

The problems I’ve seen with far East manufacturing generally lies with quality in raw materials, high carbon content in steel for example, even from Poland, quality quality quality. My current client’s order book outstrips supply at the moment customers have returned in droves like businesses recalling their call centres from India.

In this country like Germany, tell someone you’re an engineer and you’ll get as respect as if you told them you were a Doctor, however in the UK? Off topic I know.

What I wonder is if the UK has cut it’s shackles from manufacturing all too quickly, what will happen when we need to return to this output we had in the past with a nation full of photographers and art graduates…. Who then will we depend on? Debt ridden and desperate.

You speak as if it was a concious decision.

Much of UK manufacturing died through natural evolution. If it were possible for it to compete on a large scale today, we would be opening factories.
