Brown (taken out of a different thread)

Wonder how long before GB will decide a free press is not in the nations interest - and nationalize it.
    -- andrew_neil_uk

Don't confuse GB and TB, they are far from the same thing. I'm sure that GB still thinks nationalising a few things would be a good idea, but he thinks they can and should still be free that way (see B of E). TB OTOH doesn't want to nationalise (after all, he doesn't know what "socialism" means) but he can't stand any other institutions being free: that strikes him as a recipe for people not doing as (he knows) they should; i.e. for disaster. Nothing worse than people not doing what he wants.

While I'm here, there's another thing to be said for GB: you won't need any cash-for-honours or other corruption inquiries while he's in no. 10. You may not like what he does with money, but one thing he won't do is steal it for himself.

Everything so far, the time consuming extra complications of the tax system, the crazy changes to the benefits systems, says he is a compulsive tinkerer and a controller. People like Brown should have their eye(s) poked out and locked up in dark rooms with second hand Lego sets to play with.

PS Just possibly, being serious, we might not have got into Iraq under GB. Without him we might also now have the Euro so nobody is totally bad.

Are you a paid up member of the Gordon Brown fanclub

Although i hope that Brown is less money-obsessed and in love with the celebrity culture than Blair his actions over the last 10 years suggest he is still going to continue to lick ar*e" George Bush and follow the neo-con foreign and economic agenda

That’s true – he prefers to keep the nappies and the rocking horse in the closet.

That’s true too – but we should not discriminate on the basis of the sexuality.

I was trying to suggest that GB would control the press - but hey ho...

Yeah, sorry, I should not have attributed it, because I'm not arguing with you so much as being prompted by your words to muse on something....

But no, I don't think he'll control the press in the Blair spin way.

As for GB fan club, no. I just happen to belong to that minority group (on here anyway) that sees more shades than black and white (mostly black on here, surprisingly for a group of people so fortunate).

Oh deary deary me. You lot'll wake up with a start once Gordon Brown's in charge. Give it a year and you'll all be wanting Tony Bliar back...

It could be worse - we might hate Gordionio so much we vote for David Cameron....

Seriously - I really cant see any difference between TB, GB and DC. What am I missing?

Oh, I have no doubt that taxes will go up. But as for wanting Blair back, give us a break! Actually I can't think of any PM in my lifetime that I'd want back.

Well, TB has never believed in anything, GB is an out and out socialist, DC was educated at Eton.
