    It isn't physically possible to get 100MBps in either direction over ADSL.

      as you know adsl is asynchronous therefore not equal

      as his is equal it is at least either dsl or broadband

      I am inclined to believe his words that he has a 100mbit up and down internet connection at home

          It doesn't matter whether is it ADSL or SDSL - You cannot get 100Mbps over DSL/broadband. Without going into all the details, it isn't physically possible due to the way data is transmitted.

          If he is getting 100MBps in each direction he probably has Long Reach Ethernet connection to his provider, not something available over existing telephone lines.
