4096 each way over a telephone is technically easy for the pipe owners.
but the upspeed they give is always 256.
anybody who needs lots more than 256 upspeed has to put in a fixed line costing thousands.

She's on a dry stand at the moment.

Anyway folks, using a vpn client does the membership think 256kb/s UP will be good enough for ssh to remote Unix servers to perform sys admin work ?

            Milan.
            Yes it will.

The only data you will be transmitting upstream will be the text of the Unix commands, along with a little bit of overhead.

As someone already said, a 300baud modem woould probably do the job.

              Hi,

              many thanks for the feedback.

ADSL will be installed within the next four weeks.

Also like I said there is the option to upgrade to 8mbit down and 512 up for an extra 15 euros a month

              Milan.

It doesn't surprise me. Yet another think the UK is behind on.

As I recall, you probably need all that and more with your terabyte+ and ever growing collection of porn.
Or was it music and ebooks?

Current approximate count shows that I've got 870 TB+ of data (in uncompressed form).

Those connections in scandinavia have that speed internally.
