Training is a good point but I assume it will all be either basic Microsoft training (excel/access) or finance training Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
So no decent IT training, no prospect of promotion and to be honest no desire to be a manager or have people working for me. Can't be bothered with the hassle of managing people.
I guess milk this gig. When they don't want me anymore take a break and enjoy it for a month or 2. During the break spend time with the wife and daughter. But also make some time to maybe go for a project management qualification i.e prince 2 and play some sports.
Bang on....That's what I would do. (Just been for a run )
You have a good technical mix there and a PRINCE or ITIL qual will benefit you if you wish to move into a PM role.
They are almost a must in the Public sector.
Sounds like you have made your mind up.
Milk it while you can, update C.V, circulate C.V, secure gig, repeat.
the only problem is that I'm an IT contractor in a finance department.
All jobs here are advertised as requiring ACCA/CIMA. If I go permie I would need to get one of these qualifications to get anywhere.
That's interesting, I too work in the finance department. I wonder if they'd ask me to get ACCA/whatever if I wanted to go permanent. If I did go permanent...considering the type of work I do and how much web surfing I do....I think they'd only offer me £9000!
I am missing the whole JMEE and .net boats which is a bummer. But I'm at least learning Oracle on my client's dime - and learning to hate it.
McCoy: "Medical men are trained in logic." Spock: "Trained? Judging from you, I would have guessed it was trial and error."
