Ah but what about 'Mostly Harmless' the fifth book in the increasingly inaccurately named 'Hitchhiker's Trilogy'?
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

Totally agree Hattra! Have you read the whole set?

O.k what about... 'The Salmon of Doubt: Hitchhiking the Galaxy One Last Time'? A book of unfinshed stories by Adams with an introduction by Stephen Fry who is a very funny man.... does that count as 6?

Another good Adams book is 'Last Chance to See' It tells the story of his journey (along with Mark Carwardine) to visit some of the most endangered species on the planet, very funny with a serious slant.

Not forgetting the original radio scripts, which differ from the books so wildly in places that they could be considered entirely seperate works.

And an honorable mention for 'The Meaning of Liff'. Not a book sit down and read but very funny to dip into now and again.
